Snow Day

This is the worst week to be riding a bicycle to work. I originally bought my bicycle so that I could ride it to the gym, to the store, and to work. It was on sale and I made the mistake of taking it for a test ride. All I wanted was their cheapest ten speed. Something that I could leave unattended without having to worry that someone was going to steal it. What I got was a $2000 bike marked down 25% for an end of season sale. I couldn’t pass it up. 2 years later…

Today was the first day I rode it into work. From my garage, I watched the snow fall…Should I go, should I not go…

It stopped snowing for a few minutes so I decided to ride to work. It snowed off and on during my ride to work. When I drive to work, I usually take Roy Rogers into Sherwood, drive north on 99, and take the backdoor into Tualatin. It’s 10 miles from door to door. I could take another route which would cut 3 miles from my commute, but the downside are the number of inclines. This shorter route takes me over bull mountain.

I had to stop and take a break at this gas station which is about 2 miles from work.

This is my bike. Orbea is the manufacturer. It has an aluminum frame with carbon fiber forks and seat post. It’s remarkably light. Orbea is a Spanish bike. They hand weld the frames in Spain and ship it to the US for final assembly. I love the color. It’s a dark blue color.
